Lemon Drop Cookies

My childhood friend, Melissa, made these years ago when we had a Girl's Dinner Group. They are very lite and lemony. A perfect summer cookie!

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 2/3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup light sour cream
1 Tbsp lemon zest
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. In another bowl, mix together flour, bakin gpowder, baking soda, and salt. One-third at a time, and beating well after each addition, add flour misture to egg mixture, alternating with sour cream. Mix in lemon zest and lemon juice. Drop by spoonfuls onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake until lightly browned, about 9-10 minutes. Remove and cool on a wire rack. Frost with lemon frosting.

Lemon Frosting
6 Tbsp butter
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Melt butter. Stir in sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla. Add more lemon juice if needed to create a good spreading consistency.
